2013 BVI Wine & Food Festival

facebook 1The Premier Wine & Food Destination Event in the Caribbean The BVI Wine & Food Festival is an international event held in the British Virgin Islands showcasing the talents of the world’s most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs and culinary personalities. For three days, visitors and residents alike will be able to sample, learn, feast or lounge through our menu of a la carte events.

The Grand Tasting Village is a relaxed open air culinary experience where our culinary team, wine makers, distillers, restaurants and farmers provide guests with samples of their creations. (Friday and Saturday)

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina hosts the formal Wine Dinner Series which features the dishes of some of the world’s most respected chefs, each of whom will personally oversee the preparation of his or her selected course. (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

On the final day of the festival, a farewell brunch and pool party is 
hosted at Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina. (Sunday)

Festival Team

William Torrillo

William moved to the Virgin Islands in 2011 from Southeastern Georgia, where he was staff photographer at Sea Island Resorts for 4 years. The resort earned 5 Stars at each of its 4 properties making it a 20 Star Resort each year, giving William a wealth of experience and knowledge in the marketing and public relations department at a world class resort.

William is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, North Miami, 2004 where he earned an associates degree in Culinary Arts, as a member of the JWU Leadership Team earning Honors each year. He worked several years in the kitchens at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne, FL as well as well as the Mandarin Oriental, Biltmore, and Morgan’s Hotel Group located in Miami.

He has been a freelance photographer, graphic designer, and web designer since 1999 specializing in the luxury hotel and resort market, as well as providing photography, design, and social media training to the culinary and hospitality industry, currently operating in St. Thomas.

William is also creator of the “Old Mango Photo Guide to the USVI & BVI”, an online travel guide to the Caribbean featuring photos, stories, and tips on travelling in the Virgin Islands.

Chef Nelson Millan
Born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico in one of the last remaining rain forests of the world, “El Yunque,” Nelson Millán, Executive Chef of The San Antonio Country Club, San Antonio, Texas began his professional career at an early age in his homeland.

Chef Kunal Chakrabarti
Chef Kunal grew up traveling and enjoying the foods of his native India with his Parents who had a love for great food. He chose the artistic world of Pastry as his career, after finishing studying Hotel Management from a premier hospitality school in India. His early experience included, training at “The Oberio New Delhi”, pre-opening team member for “Hyatt Regency Kolkata”.
